JAYU Welcomes Amanda Blair Roberson as Our New Executive Director

Toronto, ON – The Board of Directors of JAYU is thrilled to welcome Amanda Blair Roberson as its new Executive Director, effective May 23, 2023. Roberson is no stranger to JAYU, having previously served on its Board of Directors. Roberson’s leadership and passion for arts, social justice and community-led programming will further advance JAYU’s work as a leader in the space where arts and human rights intersect.

“After an extensive search, it is exciting to welcome a member of the JAYU family into the role of Executive Director. Amanda brings a deep commitment to connecting communities, as well as experience in creating spaces for conversations necessary to reimagine the world we live in. The Board is confident that Amanda’s strategic, thoughtful and values-based approach will guide JAYU to forge new paths and amplify meaningful stories that speak truth to power,” said Alicia Rose, Chair, JAYU Board of Directors. “We are looking forward to working with Amanda in this new capacity, as JAYU continues to make positive impacts within our communities.”

Roberson’s impact within the creative arts community has been notable, including the stewarding of creative partnerships and programming such as Refinery29, Universal Music Canada, Art Gallery of Ontario and Tim Hortons. Roberson's previous roles include Partnerships Lead at Artscape Daniels Launchpad and Director of Community Impact at Justice Fund Toronto. Roberson’s community development work centres on expressive experiences that celebrate art, culture, and social justice and is a founding member of SAD Collective, where she focuses on mental health, wellness, and creative programming.
