Health and Safety Policy

As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect our communities, JAYU is committed to the health and safety of its staff, volunteers and community members. As this year’s programming includes some virtual and in-person events and workshops, we have put measures in place to protect all participants. However, attending in-person events could increase your risk of contraction. By entering the venue, you voluntarily assume all risks and agree that you and your guests will not hold JAYU liable for any illness that may result.

Do I need to be fully vaccinated to attend in-person events?

A: Yes. All guests at in-person events are required to be fully vaccinated. To be fully vaccinated is defined as an individual ≥14 days after receiving their second dose of a two-dose Covid-19 vaccine series, or a single dose of a one-dose Covid-19 vaccine series.

Do I need to show proof of vaccination in order to attend an in-person event?

A: Yes. All guests at in-person events are required to show proof of vaccination by showing their vaccine passport or vaccine certificate; along with a Government issued photo ID. Guests will provide proof at the door.

Valid proofs of COVID-19 vaccination:

  • Ontario Ministry of Health enhanced vaccine certificate with QR Code

  • Ontario Ministry of Health 2nd Dose Administration Receipt

  • Federally Issued Vaccine Passport

  • Provincially Issued Vaccine Certificate from Quebec, Manitoba or British Columbia

  • Receipt of vaccine administration from other provincial ministries of health

  • Proof of vaccination from outside of Canada that has been uploaded digitally in ArriveCAN

Proof issued must show that the guest has received two doses of one of the following federally approved vaccines: Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD, or Janssen/Johnson & Johnson (1 dose only).

Are there any exemptions to proof of vaccination?

A: In accordance with Ontario’s vaccine certification program, the only exemptions to proof of vaccination will be for patrons under 12 years old accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult, and those with medical exemptions (a doctor’s note must be provided). Please email us at info@jayu.ca before the event.

Do I need to wear a mask throughout the duration of an in-person event?

A: It is no longer mandatory to wear a mask for the duration of the event, but guests are encouraged to do so when they aren’t actively eating or drinking.

How early can I arrive at an in-person event?

A: It is recommended to arrive at least 15 minutes before an event.

What do I do if I have a ticket and am feeling unwell?

A: If you have a ticket to an in-person event and are feeling unwell, please stay at home and let us know you will not be attending by emailing us at info@jayu.ca prior to the start of the event.

Ensuring safety for staff and audience:

  • All staff and volunteers will be wearing masks and sanitizing all seats and high touch surfaces before and after every in-person event.

  • Signage to remind guests to wear masks and sanitize their hands will be visible.

What is your infection tracing policy?

All staff, volunteers, talent and guests are required to check-in and show proof of vaccination. If any of the above test positive for Covid-19, we will refer to our check-in log to determine when this individual was in attendance. All guests on that day will be notified by email or phone and urged to get tested. We will require all staff and volunteers who come in contact with an infected person to get tested for Covid-19 before returning to work.
