WHO ARE WE?
JAYU is a Toronto-based charity dedicated to sharing human rights stories through the arts. The iAM Program program offers equity-deserving youth ages 12-29 free arts mentorship.
iAM programs are free and designed for young artists between the ages of 12 – 29 living in Ontario with no previous experience required. Equity-deserving is inclusive of Black and racialized folks, people with disabilities, Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit and Métis), 2-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer (2SLGBTQ+), newcomers to Canada and people experiencing homelessness or precarious housing.

Are you an artist or entrepreneur preparing to file your taxes in Canada?
In this session, hosted by Shantae Cunningham of Cobella Financial Inc., we’ll cover an introduction to tax including deadlines, correspondence, and filing. We’ll discuss self-employment income along with reporting and expense tracking for artists and freelancers, HST + EI implications, and artist grants before moving into a Q&A session.
Come with your questions and ready to feel confident about filing your taxes in 2026.

MEET YOUR MENTOR: SHANTAE CUNNINGHAM
Shantae Cunningham is an Accounting, Bookkeeping and Tax expert with 9 years in the industry. She has worked with many industries to help them scale and grow their company from Marketing and PR to E-Commerce and service-based industries. She works with individuals and companies from freelancers to small and medium-sized businesses. With uncompromising attention to detail, Shantae uses her passion for both personal and professional finance to support these businesses. Since 2018, Shantae has worked as an Independent Bookkeeper at her own boutique firm, Cobella Financial where she provides her client with a bookkeeping support lifeline.
She is analytical, experienced, and known as a savvy Accountant. Her personality and business acumen sets her apart. She has volunteered with organizations such as Woodgreen Community Centre to provide tax prep services helping those in all tax situations.
