JAYU is entering a new chapter and we’re excited to welcome Nick Yeo as our new Board Chair!

January 28, 2026

Nick brings over two decades of experience in Canada’s charitable and non-profit sector, along with a deep belief in the power of art to drive social change. His commitment to equity, community, and creative expression reflects the care JAYU holds for our community. In his own words, Nick shares why this work and the role of art matters so much to him:

"Art has the unique power to shift conversations, to offer new perspectives, to champion unheard voices and to challenge the status quo. When I see suffering happening across the globe or insurmountable barriers at home, I'm buoyed by the knowledge that the transformative potential of art can shine a light on a better way of doing things. I'm honoured to take on the position of Board Chair and help steer JAYU through its next chapter. As someone with over two decades of experience working in the charitable and non-profit sector in Canada, I'm a firm believer that change is driven by passion and I invite you to help us make a real difference. On behalf of the Board and the JAYU team, thank you for your art, for sharing your truth and for trusting us to hold this space for all the great things to come.”

As we welcome Nick, we also take a moment to honour the leadership that helped bring us here. After six years of extraordinary service, Alicia Rose leaves a legacy of leadership, care, and steady guidance that has shaped JAYU in profound ways.

To honour her impact, we are proud to introduce the Alicia Rose Wall of 2025 & 2026, a dedicated space brought to life within The JAYU Gallery during our 14th JAYU Festival of the Arts this past December. This dedication celebrates Alicia’s contributions and the legacy of leadership she leaves behind,  one rooted in trust, generosity, and belief in youth-led change.

Reflecting on the journey so far, Amanda our Executive Director, shares her thoughts:

“I’m incredibly excited to enter this new chapter of JAYU with Nick’s guidance and stewardship. At the same time, I feel immense gratitude for the past three years of leading JAYU alongside Alicia. Her support, care, and belief in this community have been deeply felt.”

JAYU has always grown because of the people who believe in us and show up with trust, care, and kindness. We’re excited to continue writing this story together and to see where this next chapter takes us.
