The beauty in pain. As a black cis woman, pain presents itself in different forms at intersections of my existence. While the world feeds off this pain, the opportunity to make peace and claim ownership of this is often met with hostility. I would like to show pain and the beauty in shedding it as it applies to black women and myself specifically. Pain and anger are valid feelings. It shows up as stress, biting your tongue at work to be 'amicable', putting your race before your gender during political discourse, silence regarding sexuality, the ownership of blackness and a lot more. A lot of this work shows representations of ourselves (me) in juxtaposition with visible pain. By owning it, visualizing myself rid of it and showing its real time effect, I hope I am able to communicate the importance of creating and vacating space for black women to take ownership and rid themselves of pain in every way.

The basic saying goes; 'curiosity killed the cat'; however in application to Nigerian born creative Ife, curiosity is the indication of an active mind. Dabbling in writing, collaging and occasional art buying, Ife employs whatever means accessible at the time to convey personal feelings on art, life and social discourse.
