WHO ARE WE?
JAYU is a Toronto-based charity dedicated to sharing human rights stories through the arts. The iAM Program program offers equity-deserving youth ages 12-29 free arts mentorship.
iAM programs are free and designed for young artists between the ages of 12 – 29 living in Ontario with no previous experience required. Equity-deserving is inclusive of Black and racialized folks, people with disabilities, Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit and Métis), 2-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer (2SLGBTQ+), newcomers to Canada and people experiencing homelessness or precarious housing.

PROGRAM DETAILS
In this photography class, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of lighting in portrait photography. We’ll explore both manipulating natural light to your advantage and using studio lighting for complete control over your images. We’ll utilize various lighting tools to capture the vision of your projects. Whether you’re using flash or constant light, you’ll be well-prepared for any project. Lighting has always been a focus in my image making, and now I’m excited to share that knowledge with you.

MEET YOUR MENTOR: TISH
Tishan Baldeo is a photographer and cinematographer based in Toronto. His curiosity and love of photography started when he was young, from his family's influences. His career began with travel photography. He met people from diverse backgrounds and told their unique stories through beautiful visuals. He then ventured into the commercial and advertising field, where he continued following his passion for transforming creative ideas into compelling stories. The way he creates ambiance and emotion in his photography work is inspired by his expertise in cinematography. Tishan has had the privilege of working with great teams and contributing to projects awarded prestigious accolades, including Cannes Lions and CMA awards. Outside of commercial work, Tishan enjoys street and travel photography, and creating documentaries about artists and their crafts.
