MEET YOUR MENTOR: sabr project
SABR Project is a grass-roots for-profit organization founded by Amber Akhlaq and Zina Ayoub. We have over 10 years of combined experience working with children, youth, newcomers, refugees, women and children fleeing domestic violence and underserved communities. Both Amber and Zina are activists within their communities, fighting for the rights of those identifying as POC and LGBTQ2S+. Our mission for our organization is to inspire children and youth throughout the GTA and be mentors within the communities that we also grew up in.
Amber Akhlaq is a Toronto-based activist, speaker, and facilitator with an educational background in Psychology. She has experience working with populations impacted by gender-based violence, as well as experience in mental health and child and youth work. Her work centers on creating spaces for reflection, connection, and growth. Her work is rooted in an anti-colonial, anti-imperialist perspective.
Zina Ayoub is a Palestinian-Canadian singer, songwriter, storyteller, performer and workshop facilitator from Toronto, Ontario. Performing since the age of eight, Zina has captivated audiences by sharing stories centred around resilience as a Palestinian woman living in Canada, womanhood, love and relationships and self discovery. Zina has performed for many recognized and honoured organizations such as Honey Jam Mentorship Program, Share the Land Charity, Islamic Relief Fund and more.
