WHO ARE WE?
JAYU is a Toronto-based charity dedicated to sharing human rights stories through the arts. The iAM Program offers equity-deserving youth ages 12-29 free arts mentorship.
iAM programming is free and designed for young artists between the ages of 12 – 29 living in Ontario with no previous experience required. Equity-deserving is inclusive of Black and racialized folks, people with disabilities, Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit and Métis), 2-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer (2SLGBTQ+), newcomers to Canada and people experiencing homelessness or precarious housing.

WORKSHOP DETAILS
Take your writing to the next level. In this workshop, you’ll learn more about publishing and becoming a professional writer. Participants will receive tools and resources for editing their own work and preparing submissions for journals and publishers.
NEED TO KNOW
Food, TTC tickets, and writing materials will be provided
Feel free to bring in a laptop or phone to use during the workshop if you have access to one! Laptops will be available to borrow during the session.

MEET YOUR MENTOR: LINDSAY MAYHEW
Lindsay Mayhew is a spoken word poet and author from Sudbury. She is an editor of A Thousand Tiny Awakenings (2025). Lindsay is an English Master’s graduate and works for Latitude 46 Publishing. She is a seasoned slam poet, placing 5th in the 2025 Canadian nationals and as a runner up in the 2024 Womxn of the World poetry slam. Lindsay has featured with Hamilton You Poets, Nuit Blanche, Wordstock Literary Festival, and others. Her written work can be found in the Literary Review of Canada, Moria, and Sulphur.
