WHO ARE WE?
JAYU is a Toronto-based charity dedicated to sharing human rights stories through the arts. The iAM Program program offers equity-deserving youth ages 12-29 free arts mentorship.
iAM programs are free and designed for young artists between the ages of 12 – 29 living in Ontario with no previous experience required. Equity-deserving is inclusive of Black and racialized folks, people with disabilities, Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit and Métis), 2-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer (2SLGBTQ+), newcomers to Canada and people experiencing homelessness or precarious housing.

WORKSHOP DETAILS
Curious about local art spaces and how artists and curators bring them to life, but not sure where to start? Join us for a fun, friendly art hop around Spadina!
We’ll walk through a mix of public art, galleries, and fun art spaces, taking in art together while exploring these sites from a curatorial perspective.
After the art hop, we will hang out nearby for coffee, tea and snacks for an open, cozy conversation on curation. Steffi will share about her experience with curating, and together we will try to unpack these questions: What is curating exactly? Why do we curate? How does an artist-curator relationship begin? Why do we choose a certain space to curate?
Designed for art enthusiasts, the curatorially curious, artists, curators, and creative minds alike, this art hop offers an easy, welcoming environment to explore Toronto’s vibrant art landscape across the Spadina community.

MEET YOUR MENTOR
Sin Tung Ng (Steffi) explores the complexities within Asian immigration experiences through curation and photography. Rooted in community, Ng seeks to create joyful, participatory spaces to amplify marginalized voices and facilitate cross-cultural encounters. Her recent interests extend into organizing fun art hops and gatherings, expanding welcoming entry points to arts for a wider community.
Ng’s curatorial work has been featured at the CONTACT Photography Festival 2026, Onsite Gallery, Xpace Cultural Centre, Unit 270, and the McKay Art Centre. She is also the recipient of the Delaunay Family Emerging Curator’s Prize and the current Curators-in-Residence at NAMARA | projects with GAS, an experimental curatorial collective she co-founded with artist and curator Gizem Candan. Through the collective, they explore alternative curatorial models centred on sustainability, community-building and collaboration.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Ng completed her MFA in Criticism and Curatorial Practice at OCAD University in 2024 and is now based in Tkaronto/Toronto.
