The "I am Gallery" has officially wrapped up and we've chosen this night to celebrate the AMAZING experiences we've all shared. Join our hosts Sandbox, Jayu, our photographers, mentors and friends for a night of dancing, celebration and love all around.
We're celebrating the incredible success of our "I Am" Gallery project, an inspiring project that has left us all feeling inspired, energized and completely excited.
The project empowered the youth to share their personal stories through the photography skills they acquired from the project. Each week a different photographer held a workshop focusing on a different element of mobile street photography. At the end of each workshop the youth had an opportunity to go on a photo walk where they were able to practice their photography skills and build their story. Over a period of several weeks the youth's photos were displayed in multiple art galleries across the city where 100% of the proceeds from each photo sale went directly back to the youth who captured the photo.
The project has helped these youth feel safe in their own minds and we'd like to celebrate that. Next year Jayu aims to connect with 50 individuals experiencing homelessness, in an effort to celebrate what was and what will be, come out and see a visual summary of the project.
This is an intimate venue so space is limited but fun is INFINITE!
