ABOUT THE FILM
DIRECTOR: LILLY RIVLIN • UNITED STATES • 2016 • 61 MIN • ENGLISH

“Heather Booth is the most influential person you’ve never heard of,” says filmmaker Lilly Rivlin (Grace Paley: Collected Shorts). Chronicling the life of Heather Booth, a lifelong progressive organizer, the film follows her journey from civil rights activist in the 60s to her founding of the Midwest Academy, a training institute for progressive community organizers. As a teenager, she spent some time in Israel, where a visit to Yad Vashem moved her to make a commitment to fight against injustice. For more than 40 years, she has been a major force in the movement for women’s rights and economic justice. The film features interviews with Elizabeth Warren and other colleagues, as well as current Midwest Academy students who explore Booth’s legacy.
